That is my theme for 2022...Having fun growing old. Our new puppy Ruby, a high energy vizsla, requires us to stay physically active. We go to the gym 4 days a week. OK, the truth. Mark goes four days a week religiously. With volunteer work, I typically go three days a week. I love yoga, pilates and even lifting some weights. I know it is good for my future, bones and mental health.
Travel is fun and it makes us happy. Now, with diesel prices, I have to tell myself that I, like Jane, have lived more of my life than I have left. The time to go is now and you can't take "it" with you. I made a T-shirt that reads "You can't buy diesel in heaven". I hope that it will be a great conversation starter and as the fuel bills add up (and will be more that I care to contemplate) it will help me remember that I love to travel and spend time with Mark. This is what makes us happy.
Retirement gives the freedom of time, choices regarding commitments and a certain level of financial security. It is time to live my favorite line from Downton Abby... What's a weekend? However, I gotta say this economy is causing us to be a more realistic and responsible than we want to be, however. We have cancelled one major trip this year. We will explore locally in the fall and hopefully the economy and fuel costs will recover by 2023 and we can add in more long distance travel.
This blog is purely selfish (I openly admit)... it is my online diary. It helps me remember and documents our "fun growing old". We are heading out on trip #1 - to a state that we have grown to really enjoy (Kentucky), some new territory (Ohio), our first ever RV rally (Indiana) and we will cap it all off with Camp Cowling (St. Louis) a special time to celebrate our blessing of three beautiful grandsons.
