Michigan- I will take a sand beach and hold the salt, please!

Lake Michigan looks like an ocean - with no waves…. and no salt.

Our first stop, Silver Lake Sand Dunes. What an incredibly fun day! We took out a Polaris Razor and buzzed the sand dunes for a couple of hours. Mark got up to 55 MPH and all I could do was giggle. I took a turn driving and it was a blast. We had sand in our hair, ears and eyes but it was soooo worth it!

Did you know the Michigan has many different sand dune areas?  All created about 1.8 million years ago when glaciers carried and deposited sand and other minerals though out the Lake Michigan area.

We rode our bikes on a 12 trip mile to visit the Little Sable Lighthouse. The tallest lighthouse around Lake Michigan.

And then went on a steamy 4 mile hike to visit the Big Sable Lighthouse.

Michigan has a large wine region. We visited a small boutique winery for a tasting and met the vintner Jana Rose at Loves Winery. Some grapes we were not familiar with but bought several lovely wines.

We ended the day teaching some neighbors how to play Kubb, they taught us a card game called 7 and we sat around the campfire… way too late chatting. We simply love the RV community.
