Acadia National Park Day 2

Bass Harbor Head Light Station was constructed in 1858 from funds appropriated by Congress at a cost of $5,000.

Mark braved the boulders and slick rocks for this picture for me!

The National Park service has a sense of humor!

The grounds around the light house are wooded with moss covered duff. We saw a buck with a nice rack strolling across the hiking trail.

We stopped for views of South Harbor.

And at Echo Lake.

This little area was created by the Somersville garden club. So pretty.

We made reservations for Cadillac Mountain months ago and due the short straw when a marine layer moved in and engulfed the entire area.

It was interesting to learn that the mountain was formed by a collapsed magma core of a volcano.

We decided to soothe the sting of bad weather at the Chart House for exceptionally good oysters, beer and clam chowder.
